Following a directive from Trump, the Justice Department is already taking steps to have the FBI unseal surveillance records on Martin Luther King Junior.

The files include records retrieved from listening devices that were secretly installed in King’s hotel rooms.
King’s family is already resisting the release of these files, arguing that details of his private life will be used to tarnish his legacy.
The family wants to be provided with an opportunity to go through the files before they are released to the public.
However, it is not yet known whether Trump’s administrations will accommodate their request.
In 2019, David J.Garrow was criticised for publishing information he had obtained from restricted files on King’s sex life.
In 1989, King’s best friend and right hand man Rev.Ralph Abernathy, revealed in his book that King spent part of his last night engaging in an orgy with two women and that in the course of an argument with a third woman who was jealous,“knocked her across the bed.”
Abernathy was widely condemned by King’s followers, who accused him of stabbing his friend in the back.
However, he defended himself by saying that he shared the information to show that heroes are mortals and that mortals–even downtrodden ones can become heroes.
