
Blow to Gor Mahia fans as FKF says tomorrow’s match against Al Ahly Merowe will be played behind closed doors.
Through the government had given Gor Mahia permission to allow 10,000 fans into Stadium for tomorrow’s return leg tie of the CAF confederation cup at Nyayo Stadium,FKF CEO Barry Otieno says the federation is yet to get an approval from CAF.
“The federation,whilst remaining cognizant of the Ministry’s directive aand commitment towards ensuring a safe sporting environment for players and fans,will continue to seek FIFA and CAF’s approval for local clubs participating in CAF interclub competitions and national team. assignments,’ read part of the statement.
“In this regard, and immediately upon receipt of the government approval of 10,000 fans to attend tomorrow’s CAF Confederation Cup fixture between Gor Mahia and Al Ahly Merowe,at the Nyayo National Stadium,the federation sought for CAF’s conference and approval to avoid any possible sanctions.
“Regrettably,the federation has not received feedback from the African football governing body, as such and in consultation with Gor Mahia Fc and Sports Stadia decided that tomorrow’s CAF .
Confederations Cup fixture between Gor Mahia and Al Ahly Merowe will be played behind CLOSED DOORS with no Fans.”
