Closure of Bars by 7.00 pm Remains – Police Announce After Curfew was Lifted.

Barely hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the dusk to dawn curfew, the National Police Service has announced that closure of bars by 7:00 PM remains in effect.

Barely hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the dusk to dawn curfew, the National Police Service has announced that closure of bars by 7:00 PM remains in effect.

In the containment measures announced by President Kenyatta to curb the spread of Covid-19, bars, and restaurants were directed to close by 7:00 PM.

Even after the curfew was lifted by the Head of State during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Wang’uru stadium in Kirinyaga County, police now say the earlier containment measures on the closure of bars remain in effect.

“Following the vacation of the COVID associated curfew by H.E the President during MASHUJAA Day speech, existing measures on the closure of bars by 7.00 pm remain in place for now.

“enforcement of violation of this measure to continue,” police said in a statement.

Tourism and Wildlife CS Najib Balala had earlier said that with the lifting of the nationwide curfew, operations in the hospitality industry were back to normal.

“All hospitality facilities are back to normal with Ministry of Health protocols,” Balala said
