The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) expelled Dimba Patriots from the NSL after a Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) ruling in favor of Mwatate United, who contested a merger between the two clubs. Mwatate argued that the merger, sanctioned by a previous regime, did not follow the club’s constitution and improperly authorized the sale of a community club.
Court Orders
In response, Lady Justice Noel Adagi issued an urgent order to FKF to reinstate Dimba Patriots for the upcoming fixtures. The court’s temporary conservatory orders require FKF and its Leagues and Competitions Committee to halt round eight matches scheduled for November 9 and 10 unless Dimba is reinstated. Additionally, FKF must reschedule Dimba’s round seven game.
Implications for Mwatate United
This decision disrupts Mwatate’s recent preparations for their return to the league, following player recruitment efforts to strengthen their squad. However, the ongoing legal dispute may continue to impact both clubs’ NSL participation as the case unfolds.
