Because of the substantial monthly income and other privileges, becoming a governor in Kenya is a fast way to become very wealthy.

The Kenyan governor earns close to $1 million every month.
There are, however, governors whose official salary are supplemented by income from major corporations or other ventures.
Some others were well compensated senators or members of parliament.
It’s a known fact that some governors have earned more wealth than others.
In order of their wealth, these are the current governors of Kenya:
First-place Ann Waiguru
As the governor of Kirinyaga County, this is Waiguru’s second term in office.
The governor is financially rewarded for her leadership role on the Council of Governors.
She worked on the devolution docket in Uhuru Kenyatta’s government back when New York State funds were stolen.
Ann is a former worker of Uhuru’s who is reported to be worth 2.87 billion Kenyan shillings.
By making investments in real estate and other businesses, Anne is able to augment her income from the government.
Second Anyang’ Nyong’o
In Kisumu County, Anyang’ is currently in his second term as governor.
He was a county senator before he ran for governor.
Since the early 1990s, Anyang has been actively involved in politics, rising up the ranks to become a Minister and Member of Parliament in several different administrations.
He has amassed a fortune of 2 billion Kenyan shillings at now.
Anyang is the author’s author and the father of the Oscar-winning actress Luputa Nyongo.
He also keeps his political and business roles apart.
Johnson Sakaja, number three
Sakaja is a rising star in the political arena.
Being only 37 years old, he has plenty of time to pursue even more lofty political goals, such as running for president. He is now serving as the governor of Nairobi.
Sakaja initially entered politics in 2013 when he was nominated to the Parliament by the TNA coalition.
After being elected to the Senate in 2017, he plans to run for governor of California in 2022 and win.
His tenure in office has allowed him to amass a considerable fortune.
Sakaja wasn’t a couch potato before he entered politics.
As a result of his success with the consulting business, he now has a net worth of $3 to $5 million.
Susan Kihika, Rank 4
Susan, like many other young Kenyan political leaders, has been elected to her current position three times.
She got her start in politics as a representative for women in Nakuru County, worked her way up to senator, and is now the county’s governor.
Susan was born into privilege and rose through the political ranks to a position of great wealth and comfort.
Her interests in real estate and farming have netted her between $1 and $6 million.
George Natembeya
Natembeya’s comic approach propelled him to fame during his tenure as Rift Valley regional commissioner.
No one saw his decision to leave his post as commissioner to enter politics coming.
However, Kenyans knew that his popularity gave him a better shot at being elected governor of Uasin Gishu.
He won the election and is now the governor of Uasin Gishu County.
His current position as governor, together with his many years of prior public service, have helped him acquire a fortune estimated at between $1 and $2 million.
Importantly, Natembeya was John Michuki’s personal assistant and District Officer before Michuki went away.
