Iran “Paying the Price” for Backing Gaza Militants, Says Hamas

In the wake of intensified hostilities in the Middle East, the Palestinian militant group Hamas has responded to Israel’s large-scale attacks on Iran, claiming that Tehran is “paying the price” for its long-standing support of resistance movements in Gaza.
The recent Israeli strikes on Iranian targets mark a sharp escalation in the regional conflict, raising fears of a broader war. Israel’s military actions come amid heightened tensions following continued missile exchanges and threats between the two adversaries.
According to a statement released by Hamas, Iran has been a key ally in what they describe as a “decades-long struggle against Israeli occupation.” The group acknowledged that Iran’s financial and logistical support has bolstered Palestinian militant factions, particularly during periods of intense conflict in Gaza.
“Tehran has stood by the Palestinian resistance for years,” the statement said. “What Iran is facing today is the price of standing against injustice and supporting the oppressed.”
Iran has openly supported Hamas and other groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad, often providing military training, funds, and weapons. While this support has made Iran a strategic player in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it has also placed the country in Israel’s crosshairs.
Analysts warn that the latest developments could mark a new phase of regional instability, as Israeli strikes inside Iranian territory are rare and provocative. In response, Iranian leaders have vowed retaliation, calling Israel’s actions a declaration of war.
As the international community calls for restraint, the region braces for potential retaliation and further violence. Observers note that Iran’s role in the conflict has moved from behind-the-scenes support to becoming a direct target in a proxy war that shows no signs of ending soon.
