Albert Ojwang Murder: Technician Who Tampered With CCTV Arrested, Claims He Was Paid Only Ksh 3,000

The mystery surrounding the death of Albert Ojwang’ continues to unfold, now with a shocking new development: a 23-year-old technician has been arrested for tampering with critical CCTV footage at the Central Police Station.
According to sources close to the investigation, the technician confessed to deleting and reformatting the surveillance footage that captured Albert’s arrival and subsequent time in police custody. He told investigators that he was paid a mere Ksh. 3,000 to erase the footage evidence that could have potentially revealed what really happened to Ojwang’ before he slipped into a coma and later died.
Albert Ojwang’s case has sparked widespread outrage across the country. Arrested under unclear circumstances, Ojwang’ was reported to be in good health when he was taken into custody. However, just a day later, his family was informed that he was in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead under suspicious circumstances, with early reports suggesting he may have been tortured while in police custody.
The technician’s arrest adds another disturbing layer to an already troubling case. Many are now asking: Who ordered the footage to be deleted? Why was a young technician paid such a small amount to commit such a serious act? And how deep does this cover-up go?
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched an investigation into Ojwang’s death, and public pressure is mounting on senior police officials especially Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, who has been accused of being present during Ojwang’s alleged torture.
Activists and human rights groups are calling for transparency, justice, and accountability. Social media is already awash with the hashtags #JusticeForOjwang and #StopPoliceBrutality, as Kenyans demand answers and a complete overhaul of the systems meant to protect, not harm, citizens.
As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: this case has exposed deep cracks in the integrity of law enforcement in Kenya. The truth must come out, and those responsible no matter how powerful must be held accountable.
