Kenyan women leaders have come out in full support of Nakuru Governor **Susan Kihika, shutting down criticism over her temporary absence from office.

In a powerful statement issued today, the leaders celebrated Kihika’s recent birth of twins, calling it a blessing and urging the public to respect her right to prioritize both her **health and family.

    Unfair Criticism Sparks Outrage

The leaders **slammed gender-based attacks**, arguing that **motherhood should never be weaponized against women in power**. They pointed out that Kihika’s absence was temporary and **her administration continued to function efficiently under her leadership**.

“We urge Kenyans to be patient and understanding. Women in leadership are not just governors and senators—we are also mothers, daughters, and caregivers,”* they emphasized.

A Call for Fair Treatment of Women in Leadership

    They further demanded:

    • Respect for maternity leave rights
    • An end to gendered political attacks
    • Policies that support women balancing leadership and family

“Leadership should be judged by integrity and performance—not gender or motherhood,”they declared.
