    Huldah Momanyi Hiltsley, originally from Nyamira County, Kenya, has made waves in the U.S. political scene by securing a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

    Running as a Democratic–Farmer–Labor (DFL) candidate, Momanyi triumphed with 64.78% of the vote, beating her Republican opponent, Brad Olson, in the race for Minnesota’s House District 38A, which encompasses parts of Brooklyn Park and Osseo in the southwestern region.

    This historic win marks Momanyi as the first Kenyan-born individual to hold such an office in the United States, inspiring the Kenyan diaspora and sparking pride back home.

    With her background as an immigrant and as a naturalized U.S. citizen through marriage, Huldah’s achievement has resonated deeply with Kenyans around the world, emphasizing the possibilities available through determination and dedication.

    Upon her victory, she received congratulations from various leaders, including Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, who lauded her as a trailblazer for Kenyans abroad.
