Popular Kenyan singer and businesswoman Esther Akoth, better known as Akothee, has candidly shared her challenges adjusting to her new role as a wife to longtime partner, Nelson Oyugi (Nelly Oaks).
The ‘Djele Djele’ hitmaker recently posted on her Facebook account, expressing her humorous yet genuine regret over some of the changes that have come with moving her relationship to a more serious level.

Akothee revealed that she now finds herself taking on traditional “wifey duties” that she didn’t perform when she was just Nelly’s girlfriend.
For example, she recently took on the responsibility of packing both her and Nelly’s suitcases for their upcoming month-long stay in Uganda, a task she admitted was exhausting and unexpected.

The mother of five shared that she didn’t even go to work that day because she had to handle the packing herself.
“Packing for Uganda and we’ll be away for a month. Who wants to help me pack my husband’s suitcase? Nothing tires me more than packing,” Akothee wrote, adding humorously, “I miss the days when I was just his girlfriend and we’d just meet at the airport. Now I’m packing for two. Being a wife is tiring!”
In her post, Akothee jokingly mentioned that Nelly would have to compensate her for the packing effort, hinting at her playful frustration over taking on more responsibilities as a partner.

“Nelly better pay me today or I’ll mix up his socks!” she quipped, adding further light-heartedness to her confession.
Akothee’s honest admission has resonated with many of her fans, especially those who understand the transition from a casual relationship to a more committed one.
The singer’s openness has also sparked a broader conversation among her followers about the challenges of balancing career, family, and relationship expectations.

While Akothee and Nelly Oaks have not made their union official through marriage, her post highlights the adjustments that come with deepening commitments in relationships.
Known for her forthright personality, Akothee’s candid reflections offer a glimpse into the balancing act of modern relationships and the evolving dynamics between partners.
As Akothee and Nelly prepare for their time in Uganda, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates from the star, whose relatable journey continues to captivate and entertain many across Kenya.
