Today 27th February 2021 at 1930hrs EAT the Wembley Stadium hosts the carabao Cup final that will see two English giants, Chelsea and Liverpool,rock horns.
Chelsea will be anticipating to complete the treble after winning the Super cup and the Club World cup while Liverpool will be trying to get a domestic trophy for the first time since 2020 when they ended their 30-year drought by winning the premier league title.
The last time the two met in this competition was back in 2005 in the final where Chelsea beat Liverpool by three goals to two. Since then Chelsea have gone on to win the trophy twice in 2007 and 2015 beating London rivals Arsenal and Spurs respectively. Liverpool last won the competition in 2012 when they beat Cardiff City in penalties after the game ended 2-2 at full time and extra time. Since then Liverpool have been runners up in 2016 after losing to Manchester City. Liverpool has a rich history in this competition since it’s the team that have reached many finals,12 in total and a win today will out them on top of Manchester City on all time winners,the two currently has eight titles.
