The probe into the shocking murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were, has taken a dramatic turn as fresh details emerge, pointing to a possible high-level conspiracy.
A Nairobi court has granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the authority to hold four key suspects for 30 days, allowing officers to intensify investigations into the heinous crime.
According to preliminary police findings, CCTV footage captured the suspects loitering near MP Were’s vehicle at critical moments before and after the fatal attack.

Furthermore, investigators uncovered phone communication records indicating frequent contact between the suspects during the window of the murder.
A major breakthrough came with the arrest of a board member of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) in Nakuru. The individual, believed to have played a central role in coordinating the murder, was reportedly found in possession of a firearm suspected to be the murder weapon. Early intelligence reports suggest the board member may have financed the operation that led to the MP’s death.

What’s even more concerning are allegations that the arrested official maintained regular contact with a prominent figure in the Office of the President on the day of the killing.
Though the nature of these communications remains under investigation, the connection has added a new layer of complexity to the case, raising questions about the possible involvement of powerful individuals.

Authorities are now pursuing additional suspects and are working to piece together the full picture behind the assassination, including potential motives and the wider network involved. Investigators are committed to unearthing the truth and delivering justice for the late MP and his grieving constituents.
The tragic loss of MP Ong’ondo Were has not only shocked the nation but has also ignited calls for greater accountability and transparency in the fight against political violence.
