David de Gea has been in fine form for Manchester United this season and former team-mate
Tomasz Kuszczak says his influence dates back since his arrival.Former Manchester United
goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has hailed current shot-stopper David de Gea as a “hero”, with
his influential form putting him above his team-mates for the “last 10 seasons”.
The 30-year-old has been reinvigorated since the start of the season, making a number of key
contributions to make this No.1 jersey having lost his spot to Dean Henderson at the end of last
term.
De Gea’s double save midway through the second half against Wolves ensured United stayed
in the match as Mason Greenwood tucked his effort into the bottom corner.
And at the London Stadium, he guessed the right way denying West Ham a last-gasp equaliser
from a Mark Noble penalty.
He will again on Sunday be thrust under the spotlight as Manchester United welcome Liverpool
to Old Trafford, and the Spaniard will need to be on the top of his game to deny Jurgen Klopp’s
free-scoring front four.
“This season and the last 10 seasons David has been the key player for the team, he always
helped the team to achieve the best results,” Kuszczak told Sky Sports.
