The proliferation of churches in Kenya has led some believers to be wary. While some Kenyans avoid the topic, others claim that churches have turned into profit centers.

A well-known pastor named Ezekiel, who recently shocked Kenyans by drawing a huge crowd in Kasarani, spoke out against churches that he claims are stealing money from citizens.
This report states that Pastor Ezekiel accurately described the types of churches people should avoid. But he did not identify the specific religious institutions.
First, he cautioned against attending churches that segregate their congregations based on wealth. Several churches in Kenya have designated front rows for the wealthy, while the middle and lower classes are relegated to the back rows. He cautioned against attending such churches, saying their true motivation is to rob their congregations. He yelled out, “Kimbia” (which means “run”) as a warning.
The churches that promote the wealthy into leadership roles in the church were another target of his criticism.
He went on to explain that in some churches, the treasurer position is given to a wealthy member of the congregation while the position of project manager is given to a well-known member of the congregation.
He warned Kenyans to stay away from those churches that are only interested in lining their own coffers.
