World Cup qualifiers Firat defends his squard selection.
Harambee Stars Head Coach Engin Firat has vehemently defended his squard selection saying that’s he called up all the 34 players purely based on merit.
Kenya is set to face Mali in a two-legged Group E of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers next week.
Having been affered a two-month contract by the Federation recently,do you believe in his statement that he’s in Kenya to build a team for the future?
“I believe in young players,to give them a chance and also have something for the future. Not only to think about one match.I’ts all about one match.
It’s all about quality and talent ,“Firat said during today’s training session at Utalii Grounds.
“This is a national team,I don’t care how old he is;he can be 17 or 35. It is not important which team he is or how old he is,it is all about to serve the country.”
“I want results against Mali but I’ve had only few training sessions with the team. Its is difficult to change somethings or give the players experience to play some of these matches.”
Firat is set to name his final squard of 24 players this coming Saturday before the team leaves for Morocco, the host venue of the first leg,on Monday.
