    • Migori Youth Club’s team was involved in a road accident en route to Thika for a scheduled match against MCF.
    • Five players sustained serious injuries, while the rest suffered minor cuts.
    • The match, initially set for Saturday, November 2, has been postponed following an agreement with MCF and pending Football Kenya Federation’s approval.

National Super League side Migori Youth Club’s journey to a scheduled match took an unexpected turn when their vehicle was involved in an accident near Kangemi Market. The team, traveling for a Saturday morning game against MCF, faced the unfortunate incident due to brake failure, leaving five players with serious injuries and prompting the postponement of the match.

The accident occurred along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway in the Kangemi area when the vehicle carrying the Migori Youth players lost control and collided with a stationary bus. According to Migori Youth Club chairman Abdi Aziz Osman, the Nissan shuttle transporting the team encountered a brake failure, causing it to veer off course. Players Lucky Musyoki, Tyson Omondi, Kelly Otieno, Nicolas Ochieng, and Josphat Kagege were among those seriously injured and were promptly taken to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Muthiga for medical care.

Osman explained that, given the injuries sustained by key players, the club reached out to their opponents, MCF, who agreed to reschedule the match as an act of sportsmanship. “Most of our main players sustained injuries, so we contacted MCF about a postponement, and they kindly agreed,” Osman noted, adding that he appreciated the support from MCF’s management.

The match will be rescheduled following confirmation from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), with Migori Youth Club awaiting official feedback on their postponement request. While part of the squad has already returned to Migori, the five players with serious injuries remain under medical care.
