Being born into a poverty-stricken family doesn’t mean that you are destined to live in poverty for your entire life.

This truth is exemplified by Geoffrey ‘Mak’Ouma,’ who defied all odds to establish one of the leading data analytics schools in the US.

Geoffrey who was born in Nairobi, spent a better part of his life in the rural areas of Homa Bay County.

He faced a harsh life driven reality of life as his parents could not provide him with the basic necessities.

“I was born into a life overshadowed by poverty, and growing up was far from easy. We relied on our parents to fulfil all our needs, which often proved to be a daunting challenge.” He said during a current Interview.

To make matters even more worse, his life took an unexpected U-turn  when he tragically lost both of his parents, setting the stage for a life marked by adversity.

After the parent’s death, he and his siblings were taken in by relatives, though financial constraints prevented them from attending school.

However, Geoffrey’s resilience shone through as he took up fishing, earning a modest daily income of Ksh 80 to Ksh 100.

Determined to continue his education, Geoffrey’s path was realigned thanks to the intervention of his grandmother from his mother’s side.

With her  support, he resumed his schooling journey, rejoining at class 7, where he had left off.

Navigating the educational system was far from easy, but Geoffrey’s tireless efforts and unyielding perseverance paid off.He not only completed his primary education but also excelled in his secondary school studies, proving that resilience can indeed conquer adversity.

Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Geoffrey pursued a computer programming course at the Technical University of Kenya.

This was just the beginning of his academic journey, which saw him obtain a degree in Business Information Technology.

His insatiable hunger for learning led him to enroll in a Ph.D. program in Information Systems in 2015.

In 2021, Geoffrey ventured into the world of data analytics, recognizing the immense potential it held.

Fueled by his passion for technology and education, he founded Sevenett LLC, a pioneering technology training company headquartered in Washington State, USA, with regional offices in Nairobi.

Under Geoffrey’s leadership, Sevenett offers dynamic data analytics training programs tailored to address contemporary digital challenges.

These programs include intensive 5-month Data Analysis Boot Camps and advanced 3-month Data Science courses, conducted through expert-led virtual classroom sessions facilitated by Video Conferencing Technology

”We meticulously maintain an ideal pace during the sessions to ensure participants comprehend concepts, especially during hands-on segments. The training is interactive, engaging, and practical, with a keen focus on real-world applications.” He said.
