Former Nairobi Governor Mike “Sonko” has taken to Facebook to voice his concern over the destruction caused by the ongoing rallies. Roads are in disorder, and “Sonko” notes that cars have been burnt. His concern regarding who is responsible for fixing the damage done during the protests is an essential one.

The attitude expressed in the “Sonko” message is shared by many Kenyans who are now demanding justice for the victims of the recent violence. As the protests continue, citizens and officials alike are worried about looting and damage to public property and services.

The protesters’ destructive actions not only hurt the people directly impacted by them, but also raise a larger concern about the cost and repercussions of the protests.

The necessity for a transparent process to address these problems and identify who should pay for repairs is highlighted by the “Sonko” post.

A more productive conversation between the administration and the demonstrators may result from efforts to address the question of culpability and damages.

The right to protest must be balanced with the need to safeguard public and private property.

Maintaining the protests’ legitimacy and encouraging a sense of responsibility among participants requires stressing the importance of nonviolent demonstrations and holding those responsible for whatever damages they cause to account.

The “Sonko” post also stresses the importance of collaboration and communication among protest organizers, police, and the administration in order to minimize violence and disorder during demonstrations.

It stresses the value of nonviolent protest as a way to air frustrations without endangering anybody or anything.

Concerns voiced by people like Mike “Sonko” are being amplified by the ongoing demonstrations, making it more important than ever for all parties involved to have fruitful conversations and find solutions.

To preserve the rights of citizens while protecting the integrity of public places and infrastructure, it is vital to implement a comprehensive strategy that includes steps to prevent damages, create accountability, and encourage peaceful protests.

Finally, Mike “SonKo”‘s worries about the harm done during the current demonstrations highlight the importance of responsibility and accountability.

A fair solution that protects public and private property while yet allowing for peaceful demonstration must take into account who will pay for the resulting damages.
