Two residents of Bomet have sued county Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir alias Toto for allegedly favoring relatives over qualified candidates while filling positions in her office.
A lawsuit filed by Collins Barno and Stanley Kiprotich Bii at the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nairobi alleges that Linet Toto did not hire her office personnel in accordance with basic standards of transparency, fair competition, merit, and integrity.

It is rumored that six of the MP’s fifteen staff members are relatives. They further complain that the Sh811,000 set aside for employee salary is being spent on their families instead.
Petitioners have not disclosed the nature of the purported family ties between the MP and any of the six workers.
“Ms. Chepkorir appointed these six employees without considering the gender principle, which is mandated in public appointments by the constitution. She has a staff of 15, only three of them are female.” What the petitioners said.
Bett Kipkirui (representative of women in the office of the county manager), Dominic Mutai (deputy manager), Sheila Chep’ngeno (county coordinator), Josephat Kiplangat (field officer), Pius Kiplangat (communications officer), and Emmanuel Kipkorir (media staff) are the six people involved.
