    Michael Olunga’s life story is fascinating and motivational. The captain of the Harambee Stars is widely regarded as one of Kenya’s greatest football players. His narrative of perseverance and eventual triumph is an inspiration to many football players.

    Michael Olunga: A Brief Biography

    Background.

    Born on March 26, 1994, in the neighborhoods of Lakisama, Nairobi is where Michael Ogada Olunga first set foot on earth. When he was seven years old, his father, Joseph Ogada Olunga, passed away. Alice Ogada, his mother, is responsible for his upbringing. They have made the Nyanza area their marital home.

    The Learning Process.

    After doing well on the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exam (KCPE), Olunga enrolled at Upper Hill Secondary School. He got a B+ on the KCSE and is now studying at Kenya’s Technical University. After completing his education, he became a Geospatial Engineer.

    Pro Football Player.

    At the tender age of eight, while still in elementary school, he discovered a deep and abiding passion for playing football with neighborhood youngsters, often resulting in scrapes and bruises.

    Liberty Sports Academy of the Nairobi County League was the start of his professional football career. In 2012, he scored 32 goals to help the squad go undefeated. The team has been elevated to the provincial league in Nairobi.

    Liberty leased him to Tusker for a year on December 19th, 2012. Even though he played a lot in 2013, he only scored twice for Tusker. Following his 2015 transfer to Gor Mahia from Thika United, he was loaned back to the former club.

    With 19 goals in 2015, Michael led the Kenyan league in scoring and propelled GorMahia to an undefeated league championship.

    Going to Sweden for an Overseas Game

    He became a household name in the Kenyan league, drawing attention from top clubs across the world. Michael joined the Swedish team Djurgrdens IF on February 17, 2016, signing a four-year contract. Here, on his very first match, he was named the game’s most valuable player.

    In 2017, he was recruited by the Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng after his stellar play earned him a transfer.

    Michael, however, spent the 2017–18 season on loan at Girona FC in Spain’s La Liga. When he came off the bench to score a hat trick in 22 minutes against Las Palmas, he set a La Liga record despite not seeing much playing time.

    On August 10th, 2018, Olunga, an engineer, signed with the Japanese team Kashiwa Reysol. In a 13-1 victory over Kyoto Sanga on November 24, 2019, he scored eight goals to set a new record for goals scored in a single game for Kashiwa.

    If you want to know how productive his football career has been, this is the season to ask. Over the course of the season, he finished with 28 tallies. He was named the most valuable player in the 2020 J-League season and the Golden Boot winner. For the first time ever, an African player has been named the J-Most league’s Valuable Player.

    He signed a three-year, €6 million contract with the defending winners of the Qatar Stars League, Al-Duhail, in January 2021.

    After a few seasons in this league, he established himself as a maestro and the club’s mini-god. His current team (2022). He had a few hat tricks and finished as the league’s and team’s leading scorer in 2021.

    On March 28, 2015, the football whiz kid made his debut with Kenya’s national team. His debut game was in Victoria, at the Stade Linité, between a Kenyan and a Seychellesan friendly team.

    For the first time in his career, Olunga notches a goal for Kenya in a 2-0 victory over South Sudan in a friendly match. Since then, he’s continued to shine on his own, to the point that, following Victor Wanyama’s retirement, he was named captain.

    Without being married, engineer Michael Olunga was seeing Grace, whom he publicly introduced in December 2016 for her birthday.

    Salary.

    Olunga makes Ksh 180 million a year, Ksh 15 million every month, Ksh 3,750,000 every week, Ksh 535, 714 every day, Ksh 22,321 every hour, and Ksh 372 every minute.

    Back in Nyanza, he owns a multimillion-dollar mansion and is one of Kenya’s wealthiest footballers. He has a lot of money and a bunch of flashy cars.
