Dennis Mugo, also known as OJ Tahidi High, starred in the Kenyan teen drama Tahidi High.
OJ was the bad boy in the Tahidi High play, and he was completely smitten by Sarah Hassan. Tahidi High, the action-packed high school drama full of intrigue, love, infighting, and the usual battle of the sexes, seemed to come to life.
Although Dennis Mugo was young, all the girls wanted a piece of him, and despite all the side shows, his star seemed to be steadily rising, becoming one of the most promising actors. What was unexpected happened while he was still trying to balance his acting career and his fast-paced social life. He lost his high position at Tahidi High after becoming addicted to alcohol, which nearly destroyed his career.
Aside from acting, he was a member of the Tahidi High technical team and worked as an assistant director on the popular TV drama show.
He stated in an interview with NTV that he left Tahidi High due to creative differences with the director. He was fired on moral grounds after failing to show up for work due to his alcoholism. He had initially received warning memos about his drunkenness, but they bore no fruit.
His addiction worsened to the point where he would abandon his production duties on occasion. Oj Tahidi High was finally fired.
