The former Chelsea and Ivorian striker is a candidate for president of the Ivorian Football Federation for the upcoming elections.

Him and five other candidates have filed their candidacy for the post as reported by Ivorian Football Federation on Sunday. Didier submitted his candidacy on Sunday afternoon.
The 41-year old is optimistic he would emerge the winner of the election which is expected to take place on April 23.
Talking after submitting his candidacy Drogba said ” Finally hear we are! I can’t wait for the campaign to start. Trust me to give life to Ivorian football if I am elected.”
Despite his status, he’s not necessarily the favourite in this election due to a lack of support from Ivorian clubs.
On Friday April 15, the electoral commission is expected to make public the list of candidates authorized to run.
“We are ready for the elections and we must show a good image of Cote d’Ivore through a peaceful election. I urge everyone not to add to the crisis,” Dao Gabala the president of FIF said on Sunday.
The election will take place after being postponed several times since 2020 due to inefficiencies over the sponsorship system for candidates.
