“There will be no world cup without Portugal” these were the words of the Portuguese captain Christiano Ronaldo before their match against North Macedonia. He ensured his words won’t go in vain by providing an assist for the first goal by Bruno Fernandes.

He, Fernandes scored the second and the winning goal in the second half after receiving a fine cross from Diogo Jota. The win meant that Portugal has qualified for the world cup for the sixth time. After all their heroics in qualifying matches North Macedonia’s journey came to an end.
In another match goals from Bayern Munich star man Robert Lewandowski and Zielinski were enough to seal a win and a qualification to the world cup. They beat Zlatan’s Sweden to qualify for their eighth world cup in their history.
By now a total of 27 out of possible 32 teams have qualified for the tournament that will begin in November 21 2022.
The draw for the tournament will take place on April 1 2022.
