Danson Kago and Daniel Otieno scored a goal each in the half to hand Mathare United their victory of the season.
At Kasarani, Nairobi City Stars (31 points) saw off Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 to leapfrog William Mukula’s boys into the second spot and consequently narrow the gap on the league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz to two points.
Ulinzi Stars also secured an identical 1-0 victory over visiting Wazito.
