As Thomas Tuchel has explained, he plans to repurpose Denis Zakaria this year.
To finish out the 2022–23 season, Denis Zakaria will be on loan at Chelsea from Juventus, with an option for a permanent transfer at the season’s conclusion.

Zakaria introduced himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful by saying, “I want to say hi to all the Chelsea fans. I’m thrilled to call myself a Blue, and I hope to see you at Stamford Bridge soon.
As a result of N’Golo Kante’s latest injury, Chelsea’s midfield has looked quite shaky, so the addition of Zakaria will be a welcome boost.
Zakaria, however, may see action in a new position for Chelsea this year.

Thomas Tuchel recently made comments to the press in which he hinted that the Swiss midfielder could also cover at wing back for the west Londoners:
To address your concerns about Saul, Tuchel replied, “He can play at even wing-back because he is fast enough and has the volume so I think given the risks that you mentioned, he has a bit more positions he can play in and hopefully a bit more of a physical profile.”

When Chelsea takes on West Ham
Unfortunately for Chelsea fans, Zakaria will be out for Saturday’s game against West Ham.
Even though we’re just six games into the new season, both teams view this contest as a must-win.
Midweek’s humiliating loss dropped Chelsea to 10th place in the Premier League, where they have won only twice in five games so far in 2022/23.
They’ve only scored six goals thus far, something Tuchel will be hoping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can change once he gets on the field.
West Ham, meanwhile, has only one victory to its name so far this year and is having a tough time scoring goals. The Hammers’ two goals scored in five games is tied for the worst in the league.
