Rodgers Kwemoi won the race  in under an hour after closing the line in 59:14 minutes. Daniel Mateiko took the second place after finishing the race in 1hr 00mins 05secs while Emmanuel Bor completed the Kenyan treble 15secs later. Kwemoi started the race at a high tempo trying to go for the world record. He covered the first 10km 27:35minutes and went on to close the 15km mark in 41:34 minutes. Due to the strong headwind experienced he slowed down significantly covering the next 10km in one minute slower of the first one. Despite the weather Kwemoi broke the tape in a new course record of 59:14 to better the old record of 59:35.

In the women’s race Kenyan Helen Obiri dominated the race in her return to Turkey. She started the race in a similar manner to her Kenya compatriot Kwemoi with an aim to run under 64 minutes as she said before the race. She ran very close to her pacemaker all the way and covered the first 10km in 29:29 but due to the strong headwind her pace slowed covering the next 10km in 31:15. However she overcame the weather and won the race in 1:04:48 bettering her past race with 03 seconds. Ethiopians  Tsehay Gemechu and Gudeta Bekelech came second and third in 1:05:52and 1:06:35 respectively. Gudeta’s time was her personal best.
