Kabras Sugar reached this year’s final after edging out Strathmore Leos 29-9 in the semis. Barry Robinson opened the scores for Kabras Sugar with a try and a conversion. Ashiundu scored a second try and Dukisa converted it. Strathmore Leos converted two penalties before halftime. In the second half Kabras continued their dominance with tries from  Kubu and Tanga and a conversion by  Kubu sealed the lead for the Sugar’s. Leos got a penalty but that could not make any difference.
In the second semi final, Oilers knocked out the reigning champions KCB by 24-17 points. Oilers were leading at halftime by 12-07 and in the second half they didn’t hold back their first half form. They added twelve more points to seal the win. The star of the match was Geoffrey Ominde who scored all the 24 points for Menengai Oilers.
This will be the fifth time Kabras and Oilers are meeting and it will be the first the two are meeting in the title decider. In the four previous meetings Kabras have been the dominant side by winning all the four ties. The last time they met was on 29th January 2022 when Oilers trailed at home to Kabras by 17-32 points.
This will be a chance for Kabras to win their second cup title and this comes after almost six years cup drought. On the other hand this will be the first final for the Oilers. Kabras come into this final after losing last year’s final to KCB  and they will try to make amendments from that final.
Speaking about the match on Friday, Kabras Sugar captain Dan Sikuta said” I want to thank the management and the players for all their hard work and support. I just want every player to give them one percent concentration and we will be hoping to win the title after the final whistle.”
On the other hand Menengai’s coach Gibson Weru says that them reaching the finals is as a result of hardwork and he believes that they have the quality, ability and the talent to win the match and carry the cup home.
Godwin Karuga will be the man in charge of the match assisted by Moses Ndung’u. Karuga boasts of a 23 years experience in officiating having begun his journey back in 1999. He has officiated 10 finals.
The third and fourth position play offs between KCB and Strathmore Leos will be played at 3pm EAT at the Ruaraka grounds.
