Tuchel Criticises Fans’ Abramovich Chants At Burnley

Before their Premier League game against Burnley on Saturday, Chelsea fans chanted the name of their Russian owner Roman Abramovich during a minute of applause in support of Ukraine.
Before Premier League games, there have been gestures of support for Ukraine, including the slogan “Football Stands Together” and the Ukrainian flag displayed on a giant screen at Burnley’s Turf Moor stadium.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Abramovich declared on Wednesday that he was selling the club, prompting calls in the United Kingdom for him to face penalties.
While spectators throughout the stadium, including Chelsea fans, stood and applauded as the players waited for a minute before kick-off, Chelsea fans began screaming their owners’ names, prompting Burnley fans to boo.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was asked about the pre-game chants after his team’s 4-0 victory.
“This isn’t the time. Listen, if we show solidarity, we should do so as a group “According to Tuchel.
“We all kneel together and show a minute of respect whenever a prominent member of our club or another club passes away. Other messages are not appropriate at this time. It’s time to respect one another.
“This is something we do as a club because it is who we are. As a club, we demonstrate respect, and we need our supporters to participate in this minute of applause. We’re doing it right now for Ukraine, and there’s no doubt about the situation there.
“We’re thinking of them and supporting them.”
Chelsea was taken over by Abramovich in 2003, and under his leadership, the club has had its most successful years.
The Russian leader has instructed his advisers to establish a charitable foundation to support “all victims of the war in Ukraine,” which would receive the entire selling earnings.
