Renowned YouTuber Kino Yves, popularly known as a mzungu, found himself at the center of a pricing controversy while exploring the local culinary scene.

The incident unfolded when Yves decided to sample a Kenyan specialty, ugali matumbo, at a local eatery.

According to a reliable source, Yves was initially informed that the cost of ugali matumbo would be KSh 200 per plate.

However, what seemed like a straightforward transaction took an unexpected turn, leaving the mzungu bewildered and frustrated as he was asked to pay KSh 1,000 instead.

In a now-viral video capturing the ordeal, Yves documented his experience as he ordered the local delicacy.

The eatery initially quoted him KSh 200 for each plate of ugali matumbo, only to revise the price to KSh 1,000 later.

Expressing his dismay, Yves questioned the abrupt price hike, and to his surprise, the staff attributed the additional KSh 800 to Uganda.

Seeking an explanation, Yves inquired about the reason behind the sudden surge in price.

The eatery staff claimed that the original KSh 200 was for the ugali matumbo itself, and the extra KSh 800 was specifically designated for Uganda.

The incident has stirred a debate on social media, with many users expressing their opinions on the controversial pricing strategy.

Some argue that such practices could tarnish the reputation of local businesses, emphasizing the importance of transparent and fair pricing to encourage positive tourist experiences.

Tourists and locals alike are chiming in on the situation, with some questioning whether this was an isolated incident or indicative of broader issues within the local hospitality industry.

The mzungu community is sharing their own experiences and advising fellow travelers on navigating the culinary landscape in Kenya.

As discussions around the incident continue to gain traction online, the eatery in question may face repercussions for its pricing policies.

Local authorities are urged to investigate the matter to ensure fair business practices and to maintain Kenya’s positive image as a welcoming and tourist-friendly destination.

In the evolving digital age, stories like these have the potential to shape perceptions and impact the reputation of businesses, emphasizing the need for transparency, fairness, and ethical conduct in the global tourism and hospitality sector.
