Kenyan football has been rocked by multiple match-fixing scandals over the years, with both local and international authorities taking action to maintain the integrity of the sport. From lifetime bans to temporary suspensions, the following timeline highlights the major cases since 2019.
2019: George Owino Audi Banned for 10 Years

Former Harambee Stars defender George Owino Audi received a 10-year ban from FIFA and a CHF 15,000 ($14,700) fine for involvement in match-fixing.
Investigations revealed that Owino was in contact with international match-fixing syndicates and attempted to manipulate games involving the Kenyan national team.
2020: Three Kenyan Players Banned for Four Years
FIFA banned three Kenyan Premier League players for four years due to their involvement in match manipulation:
Moses Chikati (Kakamega Homeboyz)
Festus Okiring (Kakamega Homeboyz)
Festo Omoto (Kakamega Homeboyz)
These players were found guilty of conspiring with match-fixers to manipulate league results.
2021: Zoo FC Expelled from the League
FIFA’s integrity unit found Zoo Kericho FC guilty of match-fixing.
As a result, the club was expelled from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
The FKF ordered the team to start afresh in the third tier.
January 2023: FKF Suspends 15 Individuals for Match-Fixing
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) suspended 13 players and 2 coaches over match-fixing allegations.

Dominic Ouma Okoth (Kericho Rovers FC)
Stanislaus Akiya Munyasa (Silibwet Leons FC)
William Odunga (Silibwet Leons FC)
Daniel Kiptoo (former player, Zoo FC)

May 2024: FKF Suspends More Officials and Players
The FKF took further action against match-fixing by suspending:
Three referees
One player
One team official
Investigations were launched to determine their involvement in manipulating results.
2025: FKF temporarily suspends Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi for 90 days over match fixing allegations. FIFA and CAF are expected to launch independent investigations into the matter.
