In the aftermath of the tragic helicopter crash in West Pokot County that claimed the lives of senior KDF officials, including General Francis Ogolla, eyewitnesses have recounted the frantic efforts to rescue survivors and assess the situation.

According to witnesses, there was significant air traffic in the area on the fateful day, particularly in the afternoon, before the crash occurred.

Residents reported hearing a loud noise, prompting them to rush to the scene to offer assistance.

Benard Kipkorir, one of the eyewitnesses, described the chaotic scene and the swift response to rescue those trapped in the wreckage.

Despite the valiant efforts, not all could be saved, leading to a somber mood in the community and beyond.

As the nation mourns the loss of General Polls and other victims of the crash, attention has turned to reports of theft from the scene of the accident.

It is alleged that locals in Keben village stole valuable items, including watches, mobile phones, and shoes, from the dying soldiers.

In response, KDF detectives have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing leads to recover the stolen belongings.

Reports from the People Daily newspaper indicate that detectives are conducting a door-to-door search in Keben village to locate the missing items.

The news of theft from the crash site has elicited strong reactions from Kenyans, who express outrage and dismay at the despicable act.

Ogolla’s son, in particular, has appealed to the government to locate his father’s cherished Bible, intending to keep it as a memento of his father’s legacy.

Amidst the grief and shock caused by the tragic loss of lives, the pursuit of justice for the victims extends to recovering stolen property and holding accountable those responsible for the theft.

The actions of the KDF detectives reflect a commitment to uphold integrity and respect for the dignity of the fallen soldiers and their families.

As the investigation unfolds, there is hope for closure and justice for the victims of the helicopter crash.

The nation stands united in mourning the departed and honoring their memory, while also condemning acts of opportunism that seek to exploit moments of tragedy.
