Kemunto’s story serves as a powerful testament to her unwavering determination and resilience in the face of considerable challenges.

Faced with financial hurdles that could have easily deterred many, she made the significant decision to embark on a seven-year-long commitment to work in a tea plantation, where her dedication and sacrifice became integral to her pursuit of knowledge.

Originating from a humble background in Nyamira, Kemunto enrolled at JKUAT in 2017 with the goal of earning a degree in Food Science and Nutrition.

Her decision to share her inspiring journey on social media, formerly Twitter, reflects her gratitude and emphasizes the transformative power of education. In her post, she expressed, “Joined JKUAT in 2017 and left in 2023. Delay is not denial.”

The tea plantation, where Kemunto diligently worked as a tea picker, became more than a workplace; it evolved into a poignant symbol of her dedication to securing a place in academia.

Despite the challenges, Kemunto remained steadfast in her commitment to education, turning adversity into a driving force for personal growth.

Upon graduating, Kemunto is optimistic that her hard-earned degree from JKUAT will usher in positive changes in her life.

In her own words, she stated, “I hope with this degree, I will be able to change my story, because it has not been an easy ride.”

Her extraordinary journey serves as an inspiration for others facing similar struggles, highlighting the transformative impact of perseverance and the pursuit of knowledge against formidable odds.

Kemunto’s story underscores the importance of resilience and determination in achieving academic goals, resonating with individuals who understand the value of education in breaking through socio-economic barriers.

As Naom Kemunto steps into the next chapter of her life, her story stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder that education, coupled with unwavering determination, has the power to overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
