Former Kiambu governor, Ferdinand Waititu, recently shared insights into his post-political life, revealing his current involvement in the construction sector, colloquially known as ‘mjengo.’

Since departing from the political arena, Waititu has dedicated his time to working in building projects.

Waititu candidly expressed how his relationships with fellow politicians have changed, stating that they no longer respond to his calls.

In contrast, he highlighted that only ordinary Kenyans reach out to him now.

This shift in dynamics follows a tumultuous period in Waititu’s political career, marked by corruption allegations that significantly impacted his life.

Reflecting on the challenges he has faced, Waititu acknowledged that life post-politics has not been easy for him.

The fallout from corruption accusations led to a distancing of former political allies, leaving him to navigate a more isolated existence.

In this new chapter of his life, Waititu emphasized that he now lives as an ordinary Kenyan, and it is ordinary people who reach out to him.

The transition from a prominent political figure to a participant in the everyday life of the construction sector signifies a significant shift for Waititu.

His choice to engage in ‘mjengo’ work sheds light on the diverse paths individuals may take after leaving the political stage.

As Waititu grapples with the aftermath of his political career, he finds solace in the interactions with ordinary citizens who continue to connect with him.

This revelation from Waititu provides a glimpse into the complexities of life beyond politics and the challenges faced by individuals who undergo such transitions.

The stark contrast between the accessibility he once enjoyed among politicians and the current scenario where only ordinary citizens contact him underscores the changing dynamics in Waititu’s post-political journey.

As Waititu embraces his new role in the construction sector, his experiences serve as a reflection of the broader narrative surrounding politicians navigating life after politics, highlighting the impact of public perception and political challenges on personal relationships and daily life.
