Francis Atwoli has made it official, as he had previously warned, that he is a part of the ruling cabinet. He spoke clean about supporting Raila in the 2022 election, but only on the condition that the pair would come out on top.
But things have changed dramatically as Atwoli has met with some of Ruto’s allies and moved closer to Ruto’s camp. He even went so far as to announce publicly that he is cooperating with Ruto.
Atwoli claimed to be a “worker,” which obligates him to cooperate with the current head of state. That’s how he wound up working for the administration of Kenya Kwanza.
I informed them (Azimio) that I am a workers’ leader and will cooperate with the government of the day to protect workers’ rights and benefits. I told them flat out that if Ruto won, we were done. Atwoli remarked in Kwisero, “It’s simply because I’m an elder, and it’s only normal that I work with the president and advise him where I feel like for the general welfare of the people.
Atwoli has now joined forces with Ruto to defend workers’ rights in Kenya, he said. He abandoned Raila after supporting him during the 2022 election campaign.
