It’s May 17th, and as usual, Stella Wangu is a hot topic of conversation online. It’s the anniversary of the day in the early 1980s when a man named Freshley Mwamburi, still reeling from his breakup with the love of his life, went into the studio and recorded the smash hit “Stella.”

A young man at Kenyatta University more than 30 years ago fell in love with a young woman. His name was Freshley Mwamburi, and his girlfriend’s name was Stellah. He was raised in the Taita hills, whereas she was raised in the Kangundo savannah.
And if you’re a serious music fan, you’ll know the name Freshley Mwamburi and his iconic hit song Stella.

brilliantly, the song moved a lot of Kenyans since the lyrics and tale were so brilliantly done.
Stella, with Mwamburi’s sponsorship, went to Japan to further her education; but, five years later, she returned with a white husband and a child.
The latest buzz in town is about a new Stella remix that Freshley just dropped sometime back today.
