South African mom Lulu Ralehoko is getting kudos for starting a business to help pay for her daughter Tshepang’s (now 23) dream of becoming a pilot. Her mother and aunt are allegedly selling hundreds of buckets of freshly baked biscuits and scones to raise R100,000 (roughly $6,800) in South African currency.

Tshepang is currently enrolled at Blue Chip Flight School in Pretoria, but she is still in need of financial support in order to complete her training and earn both her private and commercial pilot’s licenses.

People close to them and far away have generously contributed to their fundraising efforts. Her aunt’s Facebook page became the focal point of a viral marketing campaign, and orders have been pouring in via WhatsApp ever since.

Tshepang has stated that increasing the number of African and female pilots is her ultimate goal, and she is confident that her story will motivate countless people all over the world to do the same. “It’s not like I’m doing this for no one but myself. The motivation I’m trying to instill will hopefully lead to funding for other black women in the future “she disclosed to News 24.

“How enthusiastic she is! Look at the look on her face as she discusses flying “Doris Temba, her aunt, said.
