1.Daniel Moi’s family
Retired President Moi comes from one of the country’s wealthiest families.
Moi comes from a family that owns and operates a wide variety of businesses in numerous industries. Collins Kibet Toroitich, Moi’s grandson, claims that the family is valued more than KSh 300 billion.
The richest individual in Kenya is Sameer Merali, who is worth an estimated $790 million (or Sh89.6 billion) according to a survey produced by Oxfam International, a global charity organization.
2.William Sameoi Ruto
William Ruto, also known by his nickname “Hustler,” is the President of Kenya and one of the wealthiest Kalenjin men.
In addition to his monthly salary of Ksh 2,487,500 (not including allowances), Ruto also owns several city hotels, including the Weston in Nairobi.
The vice president owns a sizable stake in several different businesses, including Amaco Insurance. His exact wealth is a mystery, although it’s safe to assume it’s in the billions of shillings.
3.Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich aka Buzeki
Buzeki is the owner of Buzeki Group of Companies, a conglomerate involved in the processing and value addition of dairy products. He is also a farmer and a politician.
Buzeki Enterprises Limited is the umbrella company for the group’s transportation services. The one-time Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate said he made his first billion in his 30s, leading Forbes to name him as one of Kenya’s wealthiest men.
4.Gideon Kipsiele Towett Moi
Ex-President Moi’s only son, Gideon, is an only child.
Among the companies in which he has a stake are Eagle Airlines, Chemusian Company, Fresh Produce Ltd, Siginon Freight, Car Track Kenya Ltd, First American Bank, Equatorial Bank, The Sasine Group of Farms, Cable & Wireless, Kent Ship Maritime, Sielei properties Ltd, Giant Forex Bureau, Revak Ltd, Giant Holdings, Westfield International Ltd, Chesco Ltd, Hampstead Enterprises, Metipso Services Ltd and Maternity Shop, In addition to his South African holdings, Gideon has two London properties in trust.
Former President Moi’s personal assistant and investment manager was Joshua Kulei. He owns the majority of the voting shares in CFC Bank, Sovereign Group, Trade World Kenya, CMC Holdings, Ngata Flower Farm, and Sian roses, among other companies.
In addition to KTN, Bamburi Cement Kenya, Aerotech Ltd, NMC, and SIG, Mr. Kulei is invested in Kenya TV Network and Signon Freight. Kulei is a multi-millionaire businessman who has invested in real estate in Lavington, Nakuru, and Karen.
