Mike Sonko, a former governor of Nairobi and now a well-known tycoon, caused quite a stir on the internet yesterday with his late-night posts displaying his extensive collection of luxury vehicles, among them a personal helicopter.
Mike Sonko is notorious for his extravagant habits. One of his most recognizable traits as a politician is his insatiable lust for gold. Sonko drives a gold car, talks on a gold phone, and accessorizes with a gold watch, necklace, and ring.
Obviously, the flashy politician has a big spoon with which to eat his life. The former governor defeated the incumbent governor Evans Kidero in 2017 while running as a Jubilee candidate, and he boasted about his extensive car collection on Instagram.
Three Hummers, three Mercedes-Benzes, a Prado, a Land Cruiser V8, and other other luxury vehicles were present. The Sonko Rescue Team, which helps the city’s most vulnerable and impoverished citizens, has access to a fleet of cars.
His Land Cruiser V8 is one of his prized possessions, and it’s been given the 24-karat treatment. The previous governor’s elegance is on full display here.
One picture showed Sonko riding a horse on a seashore, with his beautiful wife Primrose Mbuvi leaning on the animal for support. He wore just a vest and shorts. Privately owned helicopter parked next to him.
Despite appearances, Sonko’s motivation for sharing the images wasn’t to brag about his success; rather, he hoped to inspire his followers to believe that they could achieve similar success. Photos were accompanied with the caption, “It’s time for a safari, or Maisha. It’s possible for you, too.”
Among the fans, the post was met with a wide range of comments. Even as some have said that Sonko is an inspiration to them, others have questioned where he got his money.
