After being sworn in, the newly elected leaders of both chambers of Parliament (the National Assembly and the Senate) began their first official duty today.
All of the leaders were sworn in at once, and they took turns making speeches in which they vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution in their new roles.

As is customary, the new leaders will take the oath of office while holding a sacred text. As is customary, Christians used the Bible as an oath book, while Muslims recited verses from the Holy Quran.
