Big blow to Mudavadi and Wetangula as Won’t Be DP Ruto’s Running Mate, as MP Rigathi Gachagua Confirms.
Rigathi Gachagua, a loud Mathira Member of Parliament, has now spoken up, claiming that Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate seat has been designated for Mount Kenyans.
On Monday, February 28, 2022, Gachagua revealed at a panel on Citizen TV’s Day Break that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will host its National Delegates Conference (NDC) on March 15, where the DP will be unveiled as their presidential candidate.
Following the endorsements of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and FORD-Moses Kenya’s Wetangula as presidential candidates for their respective political parties, Gachagua emphasized that the second in command will be the Kenya Kwanza Alliance flag bearer.
Mudavadi and Wetangula were briefed on the process before coming into an agreement with DP Ruto, according to the Mathira lawmaker.
As far as I am concerned, the presidential candidate will be William Ruto. The running mate will come from the Mountain at the right time,” he stated.
Rigathi stated that the role of Mudavadi and Wetangula in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance will be discussed and revealed when the appropriate time comes.
“When they came for discussion. We were very forthright with Mudavadi and Wetangula because we are very honest people. They could not be running from Raila Odinga because of conmanship they come to us we cheat them.
“They were told already we have had a discussion, the running mate will go to Mount Kenya, it is good to know, and they came with that knowledge,” Gachagua stated.
The Mathira legislator acknowledged that the two leaders will play a role in the DP Ruto team, but that they will not be the coalition’s running mates.
He also chastised President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga for what he called “political conmanship” in the eyes of the public.
Rigathi has been mentioned as a prospective running mate for DP Ruto, however according to a recent survey, he is trailing Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru as a probable running mate for the second in command
