Five Top Players Graham Potter should sign for Chelsea in January transfer Window

Five players Graham Potter could try and sign for Chelsea in the January transfer window: Caicedo, Nkunku.

Now that he’s Chelsea’s manager, Graham Potter wants to make some changes to the team’s roster.

While at Brighton, Potter produced several excellent transfers, and he’ll be hoping to do the same thing at Chelsea.

Chelsea’s season is in shambles, but it has been reported that owner Todd Boehly will provide the management with transfer funds in January.

Five potential new additions for Potter to consider during the upcoming transfer window have been examined.

    Josko Gvardiol

Thomas Tuchel tried to get Gvardiol from RB Leipzig despite already having signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana over the summer.

According to reports, Chelsea made a £77.4 million offer for the 20-year-old, who is widely considered to be one of the top young defenders in Europe.

But RB Leipzig turned down Chelsea’s bid, and Gvardiol signed a contract extension on the final day of the transfer window, ending Chelsea’s summer chase of the Croatian international.

If rumors about Potter renewing Chelsea’s interest in the center back during the January transfer window are to be believed, Kovacic may get his desire sooner rather than later.

It may not seem urgent to bring in a new central defender, but Thiago Silva’s contract expires at the conclusion of the season. The Blues’ defense has also been porous, allowing nine goals in six Premier League games so far this season.

    Luiz Douglas

During the upcoming transfer windows, Potter will be trying to bolster Chelsea’s midfield.

Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante have been hobbled by injuries, and rumors have circulated that Jorginho will be leaving for free to sign with Barcelona. Neither Jorginho nor Kante have another year left on their contracts at Chelsea.

Both Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have had trouble maintaining their high levels of play from their loan stints at Crystal Palace.

If Potter is looking to bolster his team’s midfield, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz should be high on his wish list.

The Brazil international, who was rumored to be headed to Arsenal and Liverpool during the summer transfer window, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s elite holding midfielders in recent years.

Also, Villa want to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season, so they’ll sell him cheap in January. His current contract has less than a year left on it. Aston Villa contract for Douglas Luiz in August of 2022

    Moises Caicedo

Potter, who coached Caicedo at Brighton, has first-hand knowledge of the midfielder’s talent and might sign him for Chelsea.

The Ecuadorian international had a huge impact in the Premier League shortly after joining Brighton from Independiente del Valle in January 2021.

Caicedo was rumored to be joining Manchester United, Chelsea, or Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but the addition of Potter might provide the Blues a significant boost as they prepare for the January market.

He told an Argentine publication, “Ole,” that he was “extremely upset” that Potter had departed for Chelsea because “he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager,” but “that’s football.”

Because of the nature of the business, a football player or coach “never knows” where they will be working on any given day. He did excellent work in Brighton, and his coworkers and fans adore him. I am thrilled for him and the fantastic chance he has been given.

He continued, “Right now, Brighton and the World Cup are in the forefront of my mind.” Let’s see what happens once I have a successful World Cup.

No one would refuse an offer from Chelsea or a similar club, in my opinion, because they are among the top teams in the world. Being a part of the top teams in the world and excelling there would be a lifelong goal of mine.

    Christopher Nkunku

Potter primarily used a 3-5-2 structure during his time in charge of Brighton, and it appears like he will do the same at Chelsea.

Potter may want to add to his attacking options in the upcoming transfer window despite the fact that players like Kai Havertz, Armando Broja, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can all play in a front two.

Chris Nkunku of RB Leipzig is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe right now, and he would be a fantastic addition for Chelsea.

After scoring 20 goals and dishing out 15 assists in 34 games, the French international was named the 2021/22 Bundesliga Player of the Season. In the Champions League, he netted seven goals, including a hat trick against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The second striker Nkunku has continued his stellar play this season, contributing directly to seven goals in 11 games.

Even though his £51.6 million release clause in his RB Leipzig contract won’t activate until the following summer, Chelsea still has a chance to get him if they make a strong enough offer during the upcoming January transfer window.

It was claimed that Ivan Toney Tuchel considered Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a short-term answer to Chelsea’s attacking difficulties, but Potter may be looking for a different kind of No. 9.

Ivan Toney of Brentford would be a wise addition for the Blues, especially because players like Lautaro Martinez and Victor Osimhen won’t be available in the upcoming transfer window.

The 26-year-old has had an outstanding 2022/23 campaign thus far, putting up stellar numbers through seven Premier League games (five goals, two assists) to lead all Chelsea players in scoring.

According to The Sun, Arsenal’s former striker Troy Deeney said, “He would have been a wonderful fit for (Manchester) United in terms of what they currently need up front.”

Even Chelsea will be monitoring his progress if he has the year he is predicted to have. He might do well there on a permanent basis in Graham Potter’s system.

You have to put Ivan in the category of the modern strikers like Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland, who are both 6 feet or taller, extremely mobile, and capable of scoring a wide variety of goals.
