Saturday’s broadcast of news about President William Ruto on Citizen TV, owned by Royal Media, was marred by a major error that prompted a range of responses from Kenyans.
When an unexpected blunder appeared on their screen, the most popular national television network was broadcasting from Naivasha, where President William Ruto had tented with Kenya Kwanza lawmakers and other dignitaries.

Although his current vice president, Rigathi Gachagua, holds the title of “Deputy President,” the TV station nevertheless referred to President Ruto by his former title.
Citizen’s gaffe was met with a range of responses, with some Kenyans suggesting the network was copying the tactics of defeated presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta, who claimed that Raila Odinga still serves as his leader despite Ruto’s victory.

Others in Kenya have reported similar issues; they say they’ve grown accustomed to DP Ruto after his tenure lasted ten years.
Take a peek at people’s reactions, as reported on Facebook.
Samuel Lonyang: Let’s not place the blame on them. Keep in mind that this is the very first time a DP has run for president and won since independence. Also, he was a courageous DP who managed to triumph over an initiative backed by his superior.

Kipngetich Ronald: William Ruto won but Raila Odinga remain their president
Emmanuel K. Macron: The president needs to behave presidentially, how can he leave an ADC standing alone and move around the hall,…the other day he was opening door for himself which goes against the norms and tradition
Lee Mutai: Pia nami nimeshangaa na hii azimio tv
Njihia Harùni Karanja: They must be sued the way trump sued a journalist by referring to him as a millionaire instead of billionaire
