The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has increased the price of gasoline in Nairobi from Sh 159 per liter to Sh 179.30 per liter.
Unleaded (Petrol) gasoline prices will increase by Sh20. 18, bringing the price per liter to Sh179. 30 (with no subsidies). Diesel, on the other hand, now costs Sh165 per gallon in Nairobi, a Sh25 rise from before.

With the recent Sh20 rise, the price of kerosene at Nairobi’ s gas stations is now Sh147. 94. All listed prices include an 8% VAT (VAT).
The government of President William Ruto has announced, as expected, that it will no longer provide a subsidy for petroleum products, leading to a price increase for those goods.
The super petrol subsidy has been eliminated, but the diesel and kerosene subsidies of Sh20. 82 and Sh26. 25 per liter remain in place. These new gas rates are effective immediately.

Kenyans have been informed of the challenges incoming president William Ruto faced in setting the country’ s new fuel pricing. In a recent action, President Ruto stopped providing taxpayer subsidies for petroleum products.
A liter of unleaded petrol will now cost sh 179. 30 (before taxes and fees) without any subsidies, while a gallon of diesel will now go for sh 165 and a gallon of kerosene would set you back sh 147. 94.

Preventing supply interruptions was a top priority for President Ruto as he met behind closed doors with oil industry stakeholders to discuss the subsidy issue.
First, on September 10th, President Ruto met with a small group of oil industry heavy hitters for frank discussions before his inauguration. His inaugural address, in which he called for the end of a gasoline subsidy, referenced this discussion.

Ruto made this statement after being sworn in as President for the fifth time. For the purpose of negotiating the new oil pricing, President Ruto met with EPRA and ministry officials on September 14th.
President Ruto met with oil companies and government representatives for a whole day on Thursday, September 15th, following public outcry over recent price hikes.
