Sam Mburu is a successful businessman living in Nakuru who has invested heavily in the property market.
He played a key role in the United Republican Party’s (URP) 2013 campaigns and is a close associate of outgoing President-elect William Ruto. Media accounts claim that he contributed money to Susan Kihika’s 2017 election campaigns.
In 2019, the DCI went after the businessman for allegedly dodging taxes totaling Sh64 million.
Mrs. Mburu, running on a UDA ticket, defeated Mr. Kinyanjui of the Jubilee Party with a landslide tally of 440,707 votes to Kinyanjui’s 225,623.
