Charles Ong’ondo Were, a member of parliament for Kasipul, has stated that former prime minister Raila Odinga will not be running for president in 2027.
The ODM lawmaker stated he would not run for reelection because he would limit his time in office to five years if the Supreme Court mandated a new election and Raila were declared the winner.
According to Ong’ondo, Kalonzo Musyoka, the head of the Wiper Party, will receive support from the residents of Luo Nyanza, Raila’s home turf, even though Musyoka has abandoned his bid for office in favor of ODM leader Raila in each of the last three elections.
“The Kamba Nation has a lot to thank the Luo Nation for. Whatever the outcome of this election, we shall make the payment on the debt in 2027 “A tweet was sent out by the representative.
In a similar vein, prominent blogger Jeff Kenyatta predicted that in 2027, when Raila retires, Kalonzo would step in to fill the resulting “vacuum” in Nyanza.
“The Luo people have no choice but to temporarily take refuge beneath Kalonzo, who has been the Luo people’s unselfish friend, on a national stage. Both in 2013 and 2017, Kalonzo served as Raila’s running comrade. A promise of the job of top Cabinet Secretary was enough to sway him to support the Azimio flagbearer in 2022, and he did so by voting for the candidate.
According to Kalonzo’s comments on Sunday, “people picturing that I am joining Kenya Kwanza are wishful thinkers” after rumors surfaced that he was preparing to abandon Raila for Deputy President William Ruto.
