A woman has been arrested after a youth was defrauded of Ksh.1.2 million by forging police recruitment letters.

Detectives in Kiambu detained a 61-year-old woman in connection with the issuing of bogus Kenya Prison Service (KPS) college admission letters in Ruiru, and she is currently in police custody.
According to police records, four people were deceived into sending Ksh.1.2 million to a man named Benson Ng’ang’a in order to receive the letters.
Nancy Nyawira, Moses Gitau, John Kebaso, and Mercy Wambui have been identified as the victims. During the incident, Nyawira gave Ksh.300,000, while Gitau and Wambui each contributed Ksh.350,000. Ng’ang’a, who has now gone into hiding, received Ksh.400,000 from Kebaso.
Ng’ang’a is believed to have pretended to be a Kenya Prison Service officer working at the facility’s headquarters when he was arrested
When he contacted the four victims and promised them immediate admission letters to the entity’s training institution, they were skeptical.
This week, KPS has been actively recruiting new members to join its ranks.
The four victims, on the other hand, would eventually learn that the acceptance letters were forged.
Detectives arrested the elderly woman after she reported the incident to police. She is currently assisting with the investigation. On Friday, she is due to be charged in court.
