Police in Karatina, Nyeri County have arrested a 33-year-old man who murdered his wife by slitting her throat at Mathaithi village in Mathira Constituency.
The body of 30-year-old Beatrice Nyambura was discovered inside a rental house at Mathaithi shopping center by her brother-in-law
Confirming the incident, Mathira East Police Boss James Baraza said that the deceased brother-in-law Gerald Mugweru had noticed that the couple’s children had failed to go to school to see what was happening.
“When Wambugu went to the house of the couple,he was very surprised that no one was answering his knock,on peeping from outside he saw a lifeless body and beside it was a sharp Panga” said Baraza.
He said that Wambugu then informed Nyumba Kumi elders who alerted police officers from Karatina police station.
Baraza told press that the deceased and her husband Peter Njuguna had been quarreling in December last year by the area chief
He added that Njuguna,who was a bodaboda rider was apprehended by police officers while on the run and will be taken to court once investigation are complete.
The deceased Body was taken to Karatina level four hospital mortuary awaiting for postmorterm.
