We’re at CPS checking on the KCCA councillors and their Speaker, who were arrested by the police this afternoon, for trying to walk to downtown Kampala, in order to understand the plight of the hawkers who are being persecuted by the regime. It baffles everyone to imagine that elected leaders cannot be permitted to interact with their constituents in their own city! I am encouraged by the firmness of the leaders, because they know they haven’t committed any crime.
They are currently recording statements, as we wait to see what happens next.
