Several of our Division Councillors in KCCA were arrested by the police and the military for deciding to walk and interact with their constituents in Kampala, over the regime’s brutal treatment of hawkers and other low income earners. I know that as day follows night, Ugandans will soon be able to exercise their rights to freely assemble and express themselves without the constant fear of the gun!
I applaud the Councillors for taking such a bold step, on the same day when our Members of Parliament decided to walk out in protest of the abductions, torture, murder and illegal detention of our people. The leaders are showing the way. Citizens must now realise and embrace their civic duty to resist bad governance.
A big THANK YOU to the Members of Parliament who chose to take a firm stand against the abductions of our people, the torture, murder, illegal detention and other forms of brutality against our people. Tonight, the victims of Gen. Museveni’s regime of blood will sleep feeling slightly better, knowing that there is a section of elected representatives who care about their plight.
We must and shall never rest until there is freedom in Uganda.
