Kenya’s Specialized Officers To Help Restore Peace In War Torn South Sudan
The National Police Service has selected a special unit of officers for peace-keeping in South Sudan. Inspector General of the National Police Service Mr. Douglas Kanja was on Thursday represented by his Principal Assistant Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG briefed four specialist officers deploying to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as part of the Specialised Police Team (Anti-Cattle Raiding Component).
Mr. Kutoh urged the officers to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and professionalism. He emphasised their role as Kenya’s ambassadors, encouraging them to maintain discipline, foster teamwork, and adhere strictly to UN regulations to ensure a successful mission.
Drawn from the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Administration Police Service (APS), and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the officers will serve under the command of Mr. Kioko Munyambu, SSP for a 12-month period.
Their mission is to undertake specialised duties in support of peacekeeping efforts, aligning with international policing standards.
